Justice has ordered the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to reopen The disciplinary file against Real Madrid for one of its campaigns against the referees in its official television channelReal Madrid TV. As Iusport has advancedthe Central Court of Contentious-Administrative No. 4 of Madrid has given LaLiga, which challenged the closure of the procedure by the Federative Appeal Committee.
The case began in February 2024, when Sevilla FC denounced a video made by Real Madrid TV On the referee who was going to arbitrate the game between the two teams, Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos. LaLiga joined a complaint that said committee dismissed, understanding that there was no violation.
Tad's response
Both entities appealed, but the Appeal Committee did not solve the resources in time, which caused the case to be filed. Disagreement, Sevilla FC and LaLiga appealed to the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD)in which they didn't find the amparo they expected.
The TAD understood that the two entities lacked active legitimation and also considered that he could not exercise disciplinary functions at the request of individuals, which led him to Inadmit resources without even entering the bottom of the matter. The ordinary justice remained as a last resort, which has now proved LaLiga and Sevilla FC and returns the case to the RFEF Appeal Committee.
Now, said committee must reopen the case and analyze whether the white club, through its TV, The Federative Disciplinary Code could contravene With that concrete video about Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos or if, as Real Madrid defends, they are registered within freedom of expression and legitimate sports criticism.
