Real Madrid coach, Xabi Alonso, appeared at the press conference prior to the match between the whites and Sevilla this Saturday. It will be the last one in 2025 for Madrid and it could also be the same for the Tolosarra player on the white team's bench. Asked about it, the Basque was clear: “I'm fine, I hope you are too. We see each other's faces a lot… With desire and energy, we want to finish this block well to go calmly into the break. With strength and firmness, with the strength of the team.”
The immediate future
Alonso once again analyzed the team's situation and the bad feelings the team has given in recent games: “The club always aspires to everything, we know what the objective is. We know how we want to build it. We are all united, from the president to the player, to do the best possible. It is unquestionable”. Regarding the grade that is given, Xabi warned that “it is not up to me. And the grades, at the end of the season.” The coach commented that the press conferences, “are part of the job, I don't come here to suffer. These are things that have always happened. In this job there are moments of all kinds. It is not a problem at all.” The San Sebastian native insisted that in his relationship with the club “from the beginning we have had a close relationship of respect and affection. The demand is maximum. It is a long road, there will be good moments and not so good ones.”
Regarding the match with Sevilla, he declared that “it is the last game of the year. We have played many games, We want to finish well, secure the third victory and start 2026 with energy and optimism. The opponent is demanding, they demand a lot, they play with one-on-one situations, the players go to the duel a lot. They are good with the ball. “We want people to enjoy it.”
Rodrygo and Vinícius
Regarding the possibility of fielding many forwards, as in Talavera, he pointed out that “at some point we have done it. Endrick played well, he freed up space for Kylian. We can prepare games against sunken defenses, we must accumulate people in the area. We can make short breaks to make space for Vini, Jude, Kylian… We have to combine the individual qualities we have.” Xabi praised Rodrygo again: “What he has given us has been very good news. The balance with and without the ball he gives us. He has very good feet. It associates well between lines and in small spaces. We have to get to him. We want to be more constant, on the right or where he can play, on all three lanes. “I'm very happy for him, he's doing very well.”
And he concluded by avoiding commenting on Vinícius' laughter on the bench in Talavera: “I haven't seen the images, we managed to get through the tie and we are already thinking about Sevilla. It ended well and that's it.”
