Laguna Tenerife announced Friday that the Georgian pivot Gio Shermadini will continue to be part of the team two more seasons, until 2027.
In an audio published by the club, the player declared that he feels “very happy” to fulfill his sixth year in the Aurinegra entity
“I want to continue playing, play well and help the team and have a very good and successful next season,” he said.
Shermadini said that all his campaigns in the club have been good and that the team plays “great basketball.”
The Txus Vidorreta team finished the season in third position and reached for the second time in its history the semifinals of the ACB.
The Georgian averaged 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 16.9 valuation in the Endesa League, numbers that led him to be part of the second best quintet in the competition.
Chosen MVP Movistar of the ACB in exercises 20/21 and 22/23, Gio has become the player with the most monthly awards throughout the history of the national competition by getting up to eleven MVP of the month, seven of them with the Aurinegra shirt.
He is also the player who has achieved the most weekly distinctions, with a total of 24 MVP of the day, twenty of them in the Canary Islands.
