Baskonia's new project begins with the offices

Xevi Pujol, sports director of Baxi Manresa, reported Friday at a press conference that leaves the position, despite having renewed with the Catalan club for three more seasons a few weeks ago, after reaching an agreement with the Baskonia to assume the same function.

His march, however, does not compromise the planning of the next season, which already has two confirmed signings-the archangot Izaw-Bolavie and the Max Gaspà escort-and other pieces that are close to closing.

Pujol arrived in Manresa in 2011 as a collaborator, to become assistant coach as of 2014. In 2020 he entered the sports direction to replace the vacant square left by Román Montañez.

While Pujol was in the sports direction of the Catalan club, the team qualified three times for the Copa del Rey, two for the 'Play-Off' of the Endesa League and achieved a historic runner-up in the FIBA Champions League.

The Catalan sports director valued his march very excited. “A few weeks ago I thought that it would still be a long time in Manresa, and that only one thing could happen for me to leave, very minimal possibilities,” he said.

“This minimal option has happened, for only and exclusively sports reasons, and I have decided to accept the challenge of Baskonia,” he added.

Finally, Pujol remarked the difficulty of making this decision. “As everyone knows in Manresa, I am a person who thinks things a lot. And I have given the matter a lot. I firmly believe that I take the right step,” he settled.
