Turan, 38, began his career as a coach in April 2023 by directing Eyüpspor of Istanbul, team of the Turkish First Division. At the end of the 2023-24 season, he guided the team to the first position of the second category and the ascent to the Turkish Super League. In the 2024-25 season, it ended sixth. In total, he has directed 84 games as a coach.
As a footballer, he began his career at Galatasaray (2005-11 and 2020-22) before passing through Manisaspor (2006), Atlético de Madrid (2011-15), FC Barcelona (2015-20) and Istanbul Basaksehir (2018-20) and retired in 2022. In addition, he played 100 games and scored 16 goals with the Turkey National Team (2006-17).
