Pau Ribas, Captain of the Joventut, announced on Tuesday his withdrawal from professional basketball after 20 years of sports career (2005-2025) once the season ends. Born in Badalona on March 20, 1987, Ribas is the product of the Verdinegra quarry, where he went through all the teams of the club since he arrived at the Penya with only four years.

Champion of Catalonia Mini and Infantil, in addition to runner-up of Spain in Cadet and Júnior Age, Ribas had great success in the Javentut quarry, and before making the leap to professional basketball, he proclaimed himself champion of the EBA League in the 2005-06 season with the CB Prat, linked to the penya, and with Carles Duran as a coach.
On October 20, 2005, against Bàsquet Manresa, the Badalonés debuted with the first team of the Penya in the ACB, in a season where he already won the Catalan League, the first of the three he celebrated with the Joventut. With Ribas in the team, the last era of gold from the club was lived, and was proclaimed champion of the FIBA Eurocup in 2006, and champion of the Copa del Rey and the ULEB in 2008.
It was in the 2008-09 season where Ribas premiered as Captain of the Joventut, before leaving to Vitoria, where he played in Baskonia three seasons and was champion of the ACB (2010). Subsequently, the Badalonés wore the Valencia Basket (2012-2015) shirt, where he was champion of the Eurocup (2014), and in the individual aspect, ended up in the best quintet of the ACB. In his stage at Barça (2015-2020), Ribas celebrated two Cups del Rey (2018 and 2019), a Super Cup (2015), of which it was MVP, and four Catalan leagues, being MVP in 2015.
In the summer of 2020, Ribas returned home, to Penya, leading the team two seasons in a row towards the semifinals of the ACB (2022 and 2023). And he will close his sports career at the end of this season. So far he has played a total of 359 official matches with the Verdinegra shirt, waiting to close this course.
A brilliant sports career where at the level of selections stand out with the Spanish team in the 2019 World Cup, and the gold in the Eurobasket of 2015.
