Valencia Basket has incorporated the American pivot with Dominican nationality Joel Soriano until the end of the season with the option of expanding one more campaign, according to the 'Taronja' club this Thursday in a statement.
Soriano, 2.08 meters high and 25 years old, has been playing since last April the Liga de Puerto Rico with the Aguada Santeros with which he came to average 16.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.
In addition, he has experience in the basketball of the United States by having played at St. John's and G-League this season with the Greensboro Swarm.
The player arrives at the entity of the Fonteta to alleviate the casualties of the Ethan Happ pivots, injured since last November, and Amida Brimah, who suffers an injury to the ischiotibial musculature of the right leg.
The sports director of Valencia Basket, Luis Arbalejo, acknowledged that Soriano's adaptation to ACB “will not be simple”: “It comes from playing in the G-League and in Puerto Rico and the ACB is a more complete league at all levels.”
“It will be his first experience in Europe and comes to help the team in the last weeks of competition,” Arbalejo added in statements offered by the club.
Soriano will coincide in the 'Taronja' wardrobe with Jean Montero, his partner in the selection of the Dominican Republic.
