FIBA will revolutionize the female basketball calendar by moving the summer World Cup to the late autumn in 2030. In its last Council, held in Bahrein, the Basketball Interior Federation has approved to modify the date of the tournament and which celebrates from November 27 to December 8 of that year.
The decision will have a strong impact on national competitions. Shortly after starting, they will have to be arrested during the two weeks that the World Cup and the preparation time that each selection considers necessary is disputed. This will affect the leagues around the world except the WNBA, which begins in mid -May and lives its finals in September.
The argument that FIBA exposes to make this decision is to “raise the global profile of the tournament.” The headquarters of the World Revolutionary is still unknown. Soon the presentation of candidacies will begin and next year the winner will be chosen.
