The preliminary phase of the MiniCopa acb played this weekend in Valencia has led to the qualification for the tournament for Real Madrid, Cajasiete Fundación CB Canarias, Tirma Gran Canaria, Casademont Zaragoza, Unicaja and Occident Bàsquet Manresa.
These six teams will complete together with Barcelona, as current champion, and Valencia Basket, as hostthe eight-team children's tournament that will be played parallel to the Copa del Rey that will be played in February at the Roig Arena.
The sixteen teams from the lower categories of the clubs that make up the Endesa League this season, together with Barça and Valencia, participated since Friday in a tournament in which they were divided into four groups of four.
4 classified on Saturday and 2 on Sunday
Real Madrid, Canarias from Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Zaragoza certified their classification as first in their groups on Saturday, while this Sunday Unicaja did so by beating UCAM Murcia in the first play-off and Manresa by beating Joventut in a tight second 'final', both played in front of more than a thousand spectators. Those four teams had been second in their groups.
The tournament was played between two courts of L'Alqueria del Basket and the municipal pavilion of La Fonteta, which this Sunday hosted the two 'finals' for the last two places at stake as well as the medal ceremony.
