Chelsea beat a Barça team on Tuesday that played with one man less for the entire second half (3-0) and this Sunday they suffered the rigors of an expulsion that affected the result. The expulsion of Moisés Caicedo (d. 38) has not allowed them to go beyond the draw against Arsenal (1-1), who retains the lead and enjoys an income of five points over Manchester City, which is now second thanks to the distribution of points among Londoners. Pep Guardiola's men had beaten Leeds on Saturday.
Trevoh Chalobah put Chelsea ahead at the beginning of the second half (m. 38) but ten minutes later a header from Mikel Merino restored the tie in a very tense duel, with seven yellow and one red. Merino was the victim of Caicedo's very tough tackle.

Venció Marc Cucurella in the Champions League against Lamine Yamal and this time he had it against Bukayo Saka. He saw a yellow card very early (m. 11) and had to hold back against the skilled English winger, who wasted a couple of good chances. Estevão, one of the winners on Tuesday, was so strong that Enzo Maresca replaced him at half-time.
When Chelsea controlled the duel, Caicedo was sent off, initially given a yellow warning that turned red. after rectifying the referee with the VAR images.

Merino, a placer
Chelsea were able to take the lead after the break through a corner from Chalobah after a great save by David Raya from a shot by João Pedro. The advantage was short-lived. Saka beat Cucurella and his center was finished off at Mikel's pleasure. Merino, at the penalty spot and alone.
