Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has insisted that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is more ruthless than Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola during training sessions.
Jesus, 28, has been playing in the Premier League for close to a decade now, with him initially working under Guardiola. He spent five-and-a-half years at Manchester City, winning four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and four EFL Cups ahead of his exit in the summer of 2022.

After securing a £45 million switch to Arsenal ahead of the 2022-23 season, Jesus has played under Arteta for over three-and-a-half years now. The Brazilian has yet to win a single silverware at his club, but is currently involved in the Gunners’ push for a historic quadruple this season.
During a recent interview with The Athletic, Jesus was asked to name the manager who pushes his players harder in training. The 64-cap Brazil international replied:
“Difficult, but Mikel. We can say I’ve aged due to being with one for six years and the other for three. I’m older because of this!”
So far, Jesus has made 116 appearances in all competitions under Arteta, bagging 31 goals and providing 22 assists. On the other hand, he contributed 95 goals and 45 assists in 236 overall outings under Guardiola.
The versatile attacker will next be in action for Arsenal in the EFL Cup final against Guardiola’s club at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (March 22).

Ex-Arsenal striker Paul Dickov has urged Mikel Arteta to start Viktor Gyokeres over Kai Havertz in the EFL Cup final against Manchester City. He told Casino Grounds (h/t Metro):
“I think Kai Havertz, he’s maybe a false nine, he causes problems with positions, he’s very intelligent. But for me, being a centre-forward myself, I think Gyokeres would probably be the tougher to play against, because the one thing he does want to do is run in behind and that can be a real handful.”
Dickov, who also played for the Cityzens, concluded:
“Gyokeres likes to run the channels, likes to run in behind, and if there has been a criticism of City, it’s been the high line and that it’s maybe been too easy sometimes for teams to get in behind them. So from my own personal point of view, I would think Arteta should start Gyokeres, given the way City are likely to set up.”
Since leaving Sporting CP in a potential £64 million switch last July, Gyokeres has found the back of the net 16 times in 41 overall games for Arsenal. He has bagged one goal in three EFL Cup games this term.
