Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has revealed the secret to getting the best out of Eberechi Eze, after Mikel Arteta\u2019s side beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.<\/p>\n
The Gunners beat Bayer 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Having drawn the first leg 1-1 in Germany last week, Arsenal<\/strong> have progressed to the quarter-finals of Europe\u2019s premier club competition 3-1 on aggregate.<\/p>\n Both Eze and Rice<\/strong> scored for Arsenal in the second leg, as the North London club set up a quarter-final tie against Sporting CP in the Champions League.<\/p>\n Eze\u2019s goal in the 36th minute was particularly brilliant, as the 27-year-old attacking midfielder controlled the ball on the edge of the area and swivelled before powering it home.<\/p>\n It was the England international\u2019s first Champions League goal.<\/p>\n READ: Arsenal advance thanks to \u2018naive\u2019 and \u2018careless\u2019 moments as the Quadruple isn\u2019t for everyone<\/strong><\/p>\n Eze<\/strong> joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2025 for a total of \u00a368million, including add-ons.<\/p>\n Much was expected of the explosive attacker at the Emirates Stadium, but Eze has not fully replicated the form he showed at Palace.<\/p>\n In 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal this season, Eze has scored six goals and given two assists.<\/p>\n Arsenal midfielder Rice has raved about his England international team-mate Eze and has outlined how Arteta could get the best out of him.<\/p>\n Rice told TNT Sports <\/em>about Eze: \u201cHe\u2019s got one of the best shots I\u2019ve seen, left foot and right foot.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Premier League still set for fifth Champions League place next season despite last-16 woes<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe need to keep getting him in those areas because, honestly, he\u2019s frightening.<\/p>\n \u201cAround the edge of the box, left foot and right foot, there are not many players I\u2019ve seen hit the ball better than him.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to keep giving him the ball around the edge because he can make things happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Eze, too, spoke about his wonder-goal against Bayer and said: \u201cI don\u2019t know if I could dream of scoring a goal like that.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a good goal, I just saw the opportunity to shoot and thank you to God that\u2019s worked today.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a special goal for sure, I\u2019m going to remember it for a long time and hopefully it\u2019s the first of many in the Champions League for me.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to be watching this one for a long time to be fair.<\/p>\n \u201c(Leverkusen are) a difficult team to face, we saw that when we went there, and we knew it would take a moment like this to put the game in our favour.\u201d<\/p>\n Arsenal manager Arteta was impressed as well.<\/p>\n Arteta said: \u201cWhen you talk about technique, when you talk about making contact with the ball in that manner.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd you just see the reaction of all the players around\u2026that\u2019s why he\u2019s here.\u201d<\/p>\n READ NEXT: Champions League prize money table calculated as Arsenal go top<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
