Arsenal are frontrunners to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Christian Kofane, though Chelsea are preparing to start a fierce transfer battle, a report has claimed.<\/p>\n
Kofane is a Cameroonian centre-forward who moved to Europe in November 2024 by joining the youth ranks of Spanish side Albacete. He gained promotion to their first-team squad in January 2025 and went on to score eight goals in 20 senior appearances, form which alerted much larger clubs.<\/p>\n
Leverkusen snapped up Kofane last summer by paying Albacete a reported \u20ac5.25million for his signature.<\/p>\n
Kofane is only 19 years old but is enjoying an impressive debut campaign in Germany, and he is now a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea.<\/p>\n
As per reports in the Spanish media, Arsenal<\/strong> have a \u2018firm intention\u2019 to land the teenager this summer and are \u2018closely monitoring\u2019 his situation at the request of manager Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n Kofane\u2019s \u2018breakout\u2019 season at Leverkusen has seen him dazzle Arsenal scouts, who view the player as a \u2018gem\u2019 in the making.<\/p>\n READ: Tuchel criticised for Arsenal snub as actual child \u2018protected\u2019 from unknown England dangers<\/strong><\/p>\n Arsenal see Kofane as a \u2018perfect\u2019 addition to future-proof their attack, and the Gunners are readying a move to win the transfer pursuit.<\/p>\n They will need to meet Leverkusen\u2019s \u20ac60-70m (\u00a352-60.5m) demands to forge an agreement.<\/p>\n However, the report adds that Chelsea could soon enter \u2018direct contact\u2019 with the Bundesliga outfit to \u2018derail Arsenal\u2019s negotiations\u2019.<\/p>\n Both London clubs are in the market for striker reinforcements, and Kofane is a new and exciting option.<\/p>\n Arsenal are searching for new competition for Viktor Gyokeres as Gabriel Jesus is expected to be sold this summer. He also impressed against Arsenal in the Champions League, which is likely why Arteta\u2019s side have been linked with a move.<\/p>\n Julian Alvarez is understood to be Arsenal\u2019s dream striker signing for next season.
